Privacy Policy

Effective Date: 2026-07-22

1. Who We Are

Protect Our Family (“the App,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a family-safety application provided by Protect Our Family, Inc (“the Company”). The App helps an adult account holder keep track of the safety and wellbeing of the members of their household — including location sharing, geofences, scheduled check-ins, arrival (“no-show”) alerts, emergency broadcasts, and missing-person reporting tools.

Contact: Protect Our Family Inc. Email: POF@protectourfamily.net.

2. Scope & Who Uses the App

Accounts are created and operated only by adults (age 18+) who are the guardians or responsible members of a household. Children do not create or log into accounts. Information about minors is entered and controlled by the adult account holder for the purpose of protecting those family members. If you add another person to your household, you represent that you have the authority to provide their information and, where required, their (or their guardian’s) consent.

3. Information We Collect

We collect only the information needed to deliver the App’s safety features. Specifically:

-Location data; Precise GPS coordinates and background location history; Live family location, geofences, scheduled check-ins, arrival/no-show detection

-Contact information; Account email, phone number, household mailing address; Account setup, emergency SMS/email notifications

-Identity details; First/last name, date of birth/age, gender, member ID; Identifying household members and missing-person reports

-Photos & user content; Member photos, recovery-confirmation photos; Missing-person posters and law-enforcement packets

-Physical & biometric-adjacent descriptors; Height, weight, eye/hair color, dental information, facial photos, and (for law-enforcement packets) fingerprint cards; Identification in a missing-person situation

-Health information; Medications, blood type, medical conditions, special-condition alerts; Informing emergency responders and caregiver reminders

-Emergency contacts; Names, phone numbers, emails you manually enter; Recipients of emergency broadcasts

-Technical identifiers; Account user ID, push-notification token; Operating the App and delivering push alerts

-Payment information; Processed by Stripe; card numbers never reach our servers; Subscriptions

We do not use any third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking software in the App. We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

4. How We Use Your Information

·       To provide the core safety features you enable (location sharing, geofences, check-ins, no-show and emergency alerts, missing-person tools).

·       To send notifications through the channels you choose (in-app, push, email, SMS).

·       To generate missing-person posters and law-enforcement packets at your direction.

·       To operate, secure, maintain, and improve the App.

·       To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

5. Location Data (Including Background Location)

Location is the heart of the App’s safety value. With your permission, the App collects precise location — including in the background — so that features such as live family location, geofence arrival/departure, scheduled check-ins, and no-show detection can work even when the App is not open. You can disable location permission at any time in your device settings; doing so will turn off the features that depend on it.

6. Children’s Privacy (COPPA)

The App is intended for use by adults. We do not knowingly allow children to create accounts or provide information directly to us. Information about a minor is supplied and managed by the adult account holder responsible for that child. An account holder may review, edit, or delete a minor’s information at any time within the App, and may delete the entire account. If you believe a child has provided us information directly without an authorized adult, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Biometric & Sensitive Identification Data

Certain features store descriptors and images (including facial photos and, for law-enforcement packets, fingerprint cards) that may be considered biometric or sensitive under laws such as the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA). This data is collected solely to help identify a family member in a safety or missing-person situation, is retained only as long as needed for that purpose or as required by law, and is never sold or used for advertising. You may delete this data by removing the associated member or your account.

8. How We Share Information

We share information only in these limited circumstances:

·       Service providers (processors) acting on our behalf: Twilio (SMS delivery), SendGrid/Amazon SES (email delivery), Amazon Web Services (secure hosting and file storage), and Stripe (payment processing). These providers may process your data only to perform services for us.

·       Automated & AI processing: when you use certain features, limited information is processed by third-party artificial-intelligence and machine-learning providers strictly to deliver that feature — for example, translating a missing-person alert into a recipient’s preferred language, and (only where you enable a photo-based feature) analyzing a photo you provide. This processing is performed by Abacus.AI (text and language processing) and our photo-analysis provider. These providers act only on our instructions, process your data solely to provide the requested feature, and do not use your data to train their own models, and never for advertising. You choose whether to use these features.

·       Recipients you choose: emergency contacts and household members you designate receive the alerts and information you direct the App to send them.

·       Law enforcement / emergency services: when you use missing-person or emergency features, the App transmits the information you provide to the recipients you select or that the feature is designed to reach.

·       Legal requirements: when required by law, subpoena, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of users or the public.

·       Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.

Your authorization for missing-person and safety use. When you use the missing-person, poster, community-alert, or law-enforcement features, you authorize us — and the law-enforcement agencies and official missing-person partners you direct the App to reach (such as the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children) — to reproduce, publish, distribute, and display the affected member’s photographs, physical and medical descriptors, identifying details, and last-seen location for the purpose of locating and identifying that member. Once this information is shared with law enforcement, partners, or the public, it may be copied and retained by them and can no longer be recalled or deleted by us. This authorization is described in more detail in Section 9 of the Terms and Conditions.

9. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App’s features, then delete or de-identify it within a reasonable period, except where a longer retention is required by law. Location history and other time-sensitive data are retained only for the operational windows the features require.

10. Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Files are stored in access-controlled cloud storage, and sensitive fields are protected with additional safeguards. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information using reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures.

11. Your Rights & Choices

Depending on where you live (including under the CCPA/CPRA in California and the GDPR in the EU/UK), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You can exercise many of these directly in the App:

·       Delete your account and data: the App provides in-app self-service account deletion, which removes your account and associated data.

·       Edit or remove members: account holders can edit or delete any household member’s information at any time.

·       Control permissions: location, notifications, and other permissions can be managed in your device settings.

To make a rights request or ask a privacy question, contact pof@protectourfamily.net. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

12. International Data Transfers

The App is operated from the United States, and information is processed and stored in the United States. If you access the App from outside the U.S., you understand your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., which may have different data-protection laws than your jurisdiction.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
